  • The difference between Non-Verbal and Spatial Reasoning questions lies at the very core of their intelligence testing. Spatial reasoning questions are believed to require greater innate skills rather than being a logical or learned skill. This makes it harder to teach, as the very act of rotating or manipulating shapes in space, or 3D, in one’s mind is a mental activity that is hard to verbalise.

  • While some Non-Verbal Reasoning questions incorporate basic spatial skills, such as rotation and reflection, spatial skills are primarily the domain of spatial reasoning. Rotation takes place in 3D space, for example, rather than on a 2D plane as in the case of Non-Verbal Reasoning.
